Buckeye Career Center

Buckeye Career Center can trace its origins back to 1963 when the Ohio State Legislature allowed local county boards of education to establish vocational districts.  Flash forward 50 years and that is what you will find at Buckeye Career Center – vocational education offered in multiple fields for multiple audiences.

If you are a high school graduate, the Adult Education segment at Buckeye offers apprentices and certification programs in the following fields:

  • Automotive collision and technician
  • Cosmetology
  • Dental, Medical, and Legal Assistants
  • Ohio Peace Officer Training to Become a Police Officer
  • Power Equipment/Small Engines
  • Utility Line Worker
  • Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC)

The credits you earn at Buckeye are recognized by Ohio’s Career Technical Credit Transfer with the Ohio Board of Regents at any state college towards a baccalaureate degree.    Full time career training programs at Buckeye qualify for Pell Grants as well as the Montgomery GI Bill.

For those not interested in pursuing certification in a specific field, the Center offers an impressive array of vocational and technical classes from computer technology to agriculture to basic office skills to cooking and crafts.Buckeye also has a variety of online offerings and offers GED preparation training and basic literacy training for adults as well.

High school students 16 years or older can begin their certification training early at the Buckeye Center.  In addition, there are selected courses offered at the Center’s satellite locations, which are high schools throughout the educational districts served by the Buckeye Career Center.
