The James Rumsey Technical Institute has its groundbreaking in 1969. The school is named for James Rumsey, a mechanical engineer and inventor from Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Located in Martinsburg, West Virginia, the school offers high school and post-secondary programs for individuals wishing to learn a vocation or career. JTRI serves three counties and has become an established and respected technical school in the area.

Academics

JTRI offers a diver number of classes in its high school and post-graduate programs. The high school programs covers general education as well as specific trades, while the post-secondary offers seven career oriented programs.

Post-Secondary programs have limited space for admissions, thus students interested in enrolling should do so early and be prepared to pay the application fee along with a sealed copy of their high school transcripts. Applicants must have a GED or high school diploma. Individual programs may have additional requirements.
