The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Crossville was established in 1967 as one of the State Area Vocation Technical Schools. It was first named as the Crossville Technology Center before it became accredited and governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents. As soon as the CTC became part of the Tennessee Technical Center Systems, the name was changed to its present name to reflect the mission of the school system. Aside from being accredited by the Tennessee Board of Regents, the school is also partners with the Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce and the Regents Online Campus Collaborative.
Today, the center offers different kinds of programs that meet the demands of the local industry. Such programs include auto mechanics, drafting, machine shop repair, electronics, office occupation, welding, auto body technology, CAD technology, HVAC and refrigeration, masonry technology, practical nursing, GED preparation and early childhood education. Aside from the fulltime programs, the school also offer online certificate programs wherein students can take up short courses in a particular technical practice.
The tuition fee of TTC-Crossville remains the same at $183 per credit unit since last academic year (2012-2013). Students also need to pay for the technology fee at $41. On the other hand, special academic fees are required for students taking up truck driving, practical nursing and welding technology.
Students who graduate from TTC-Crossville usually proceed to a community college or state university to take an Associate or bachelor’s degree. Students can take advantage of the Tennessee Transfer Pathway where they can enroll in any community college accredited by the Tennessee Board of Regents so that all of their TTC units will be credited.
