Harvey Mudd College, located in Claremont California, was founded in 1955, and is one of the five colleges that make up the Claremont Colleges, a group of schools that share resources and common areas of campus though operate their school's independently of one another, though students may choose to take courses at the other colleges as part of their curriculum. Harvey Mudd College is a private liberal arts college that places an emphasis on engineering, science and mathematics programs, fields that it has become well known for over it history. The school is named after Harvey Seeley Mudd, an investor who died prior to the opening of the school, with funds supplied by friends and family to complete its construction.
