About
Saint Augustine's University (formerly known as St. Augustine's College) is located in Raleigh, North Carolina.  The school began operations in 1867 as a normal and technical school for freed slaves rooted in Episcopalian values. The historically black college provided individuals with educational opportunities that increased in scope as the school developed, first in 1893 when it became known as the Saint Augustine's School, the  again in 1919 when it became Saint Augustine's Junior College and began offering post secondary education. The school converted to a four year institution in 1927, changing its name in 1928 to the current, and issued its first bachelor degree in 1931. Saint Augustine's College was the first historically black college to have its own radio station. The school has also expanded its facilities over the years, renovating and updating as needed.


Academics

Saint Augustine's College offers students a number of bachelor degree granting programs as well as minors to ensure that enrolled students will be a able to pursue an education that appeals to them. Students will study for approximately four years, receiving their degree upon completion. Students may enter the workforce upon graduation, though some individuals may pursue a master's degree at graduate institution. In addition, the school offers a large number of minor degrees to augment one's education.

Students interested in attending Saint Augustine's College must complete the application for admission, provide all pertinent transcripts and standardized test scores, supply two letters of recommendation, and pay the application fee. Once received the materials provided will be reviewed and a final decision rendered for admission that will be sent to the student once made.


Financial aid is available in the form grants, loans, and scholarships. Students in need of financial assistance should obtain a federal PIN and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which will allow the school to determine a student's needs, eligibility and awards.
