American InterContinental University offers an online university with its main campus based in Schaumburg, Illinois that was founded in 1970 by Jack and Helen Barnette. The AIU online campus was started in 2001 and currently over 80% of enrolled students attend classes online.
AIU is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association to confer associate, bachelor, and master degrees. The university offers a wide range of degrees and programs with ability to choose the following for online students: accounting, business administration, forensic accounting, entrepreneurship, healthcare management, human resource management, marketing, project management, international business, technology management, criminal justice, forensic science, homeland security and crisis management, education, and information technology.
American InterContinental University employs over 600 full-time and part-time instructors and provides access for students to a variety of resources that includes a virtual library, career services, student clubs, and financial aid. The AIU virtual campus was named the ‘Best of the Best’ by Computerworld Honors Program.
The administrative team at AIU launched a proprietary adaptive learning technology, known as intellipath, to help the school best provide data-driven personalized learning for each student. The platform established a baseline for each student, then optimizes the order and type of lessons to the student to best meet their unique educational needs.
