History

Career Training Solutions (CTS) was established on April 27, 1998, as the Health and Beauty Academy, Inc., in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Health and Beauty Academy offered programs in European Skin Care, Body Spa and Wellness, Esthetics, Electrolysis, and Professional Massage Therapy. In October of 2000, ownership of the Health and Beauty Academy changed, and the school was renamed Career Training Solutions (CTS).

The new management of Career Training Solutions implemented stronger curricula to the programs already offered. In addition, Medical Assistant, Medical Insurance Specialist, Phlebotomy, and Practical Nurse programs were implemented. CTS attained national accreditation with the Commission of the Council of Occupational Education (COE) in February 2002. In 2008 CTS offered its first degree granting program, the Registered Nurse program, and will continue to look for new education alternatives to better serve the community.

Headquartered at Montclair, New Jersey, Montclair State University is a public research university which is classified as a Doctoral University – High Research Activity by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. The university, established in 1908, has 11 colleges and schools offering 300 majors, minors, concentrations and certificate programs.

The Makeup Artistry Certificate program at Montclair States encompasses aesthetic principles and practical skills through coursework and practical application as well as the  personal, social, cultural and ethical contexts of beauty and fashion. It prepares the students for careers in the field of makeup artistry with an in-depth understanding of the uses of makeup and cosmetics in today’s society. Douglas Education Center (DEC) is a private higher education career school located in Monessen, Pennsylvania. The school equips students with the tools to be successful in cosmetology, film-making, special effects and other fields.  The Esthetics and Makeup Artist diploma at The Cosmetology Academy at DEC offers specialization in the study of skin care. Students under the program learn about a variety of services including facials, skin analysis, makeup artistry, and many more. Located in Onalaska, Wisconsin, The Salon Professional Academy is an accredited beauty academy by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges offering associate, baccalaureate and master’s degree programs made to prepare students for occupational, trade, and technical careers. Students in the academy are able to apply their acquired technical skills to real customers and receive one-on-one coaching with highly-qualified professionals.

The sixty week Cosmetology and Advanced Makeup course at The Salon Professional Academy is a program that prepares students for rewarding long-term careers in the beauty industry. Students learn the fundamental knowledge and technical skills such as the basics of business planning and importance of exceptional communication skills which are essential tools in starting a career in the industry. Bellus Academy is one of the most awarded beauty and wellness institutions in the country. The campus located in Chula Vista, Kansas was completely renovated in 2006 and the programs offered in the original campus in National City were transferred to the current location. The academy offers combined courses allowing students to enroll in one program and graduate with multiple credentials which will enhance resume and career opportunities.

Having partnership with the internationally acclaimed brand Make-up Designory (MUD), the Make-up Artistry course Bellus Academy Chula Vista prepares students by providing high-quality tools and advanced technical training in various industries such as fashion,, TV, film, bridal, and commercial. Students are given the M.U.D. Professional Kit which has different professional brushes and tools in order to help them master make-up techniques like facial contouring, correction, and concealing. Phillips Community College, a member of the University of Arkansas System, is a public community college in Helena-West Helena, Arkansas founded in 1965. The college offers 14 academic, occupational/technical, and continuing education programs to almost 2,000 students in its three campuses in DeWitt, Helena-West Helena, and Stuttgart.

The makeup courses at Phillips offers a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training to prepare students for the state licensing examination. Chartered in 1969, Blue Ridge Community College is a two-year, comprehensive post-secondary institution located in Flat Rock, North Carolina. The college, operating under the North Carolina Community College System, provides one of the largest continuing education programs in the state with over 100 degrees, diplomas, and certificates in 30 areas of study.

The Blue Ridge’s Makeup major, featuring the Matrix CRAFT Methodology, offers smaller class sizes allowing for one-on-one instruction combined with real-life experiences. The curriculum involves coursework in all phases of professional imaging, current trends and techniques in hair design as well as professional skincare, hair removal, makeup, and body treatments. Based in Farmington, New Mexico, San Juan College is a public two-year community college founded as a branch of the New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts in 1956. The college, with over 10,000 annual students, offers more than 130 degree and certificate programs as well as workforce training and non-credit community learning classes.

San Juan College’s Cosmetology program offers technical education and hands-on career training in the fields of cosmetology, nail technology, barbering, and esthetics. The AAS Makeup degree is a selective program offered during the fall, spring, and summer. Individuals interested in the program go through the application process which requires a resume, cover letter, transcript, and a letter of recommendation.
