Blessing Rieman College of Nursing
Also known as BRCN/B-RCN/Blessing-Rieman
700 College Ave, Carlinville, IL
Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing is located on the campus of Blessing Hospital in Quincy Illinois. The College has been educating nurses for more than 100 years. Today its partnership arrangement with nearby Culver-Stockton College and local Quincy University allows Blessing Rieman to replace its traditional two year Registered Nursing (RN) programs to be able to offer both Bachelors and Masters of Science in Nursing Degrees. The baccalaureate degree requires general education classes at the partner school and traditional nursing coursework at BRCN. The master’s level degrees are conferred by BRCN. There is a two year MSN option for nurses currently holding BSN degrees and a three year option for nurses with RN credentials and/or associate degrees. There are curriculum tracks for education or administration.
Clinical experience at BRCN comes from a state of the art simulation center complete with high fidelity simulated “humans” --three adults; a one and five year old child; a birthing mother and a new born; and a premature infant.
Blessing-Riemen College of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the State Boards of Nursing in both Illinois and Missouri.
Upon completion of nursing training candidates take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). One measure of the quality of a school’s nursing program is the pass rates of its graduates on this examination.
Since 2004, the lowest pass rate recorded for BRCN graduates was 70% in 2005. The pass rate for 2012 was 91%. Here are the pass rates for BRCN for the last nine years:
- 2004 84%
- 2005 70%
- 2006 86%
- 2007 91%
- 2008 90%
- 2009 96%
