About
Harry S. Truman College, located in Chicago, Illinois, is a public two year community college founded in 1956 and is one of the seven colleges that comprise the City Colleges of Chicago. Originally established as a nameless night school, by 1961 the school had outgrown its facilities at Amundsen High School, moving to a new location once occupied by an elementary school and being given the name Mayfair College. By 1976 the school had once again outgrown its facilities, moving to a new uptown location and being renamed Northeast Community College. At the suggestion of Mayor John Daly's assistant, Frank Sullivan, the school was instead named after Harry S. Truman who had been a lifelong proponent of education. The school currently serves nearly 23,000 students a year, both internationally and locally, and is dedicated to providing all students an equal education.

The school has transfer agreements in place with several public illinois institutions, allowing for ease of transfer if the agreed upon requirements are met. School lacking an agreement with Harry S. Truman College may have different criterion for admission and it is advised students meet with a counselor to develop a curriculum best suited for the student's desired school or schools.

Through such a program students will learn the skills and abilities necessary to enter the workforce as professionals. Courses will provide classroom and practical education, emulating real world scenarios and providing valuable experience. Graduates are qualified for entry level positions immediately after graduation.

Students may be required to provide additional financial documentation prior to the disbursement of funds to ensure the accuracy of the FAFSA. Financial aid should be applied for prior to posted deadlines, and must be reapplied for every academic year.
