Jarvis Christian College
Also known as The Bulldogs
105 B J Albritton Dr, Jacksonville, TX
Jarvis Christian College is a nonprofit private historically black institution located in Hawkins, Texas. A majority of historically black colleges and universities (also known as HBCUs) were established after the civil war to provide newly freed African Americans with educational opportunities. The school maintains a Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) affiliation, which is evident in the role it plays in program curriculums and daily life at the school. The school's limited space in terms of enrollment, approximately 500 students, allows students to have a more hands on education due to the size of the class and ease of access to professors.
A list of some of the popular programs are:
- Interdisciplinary Studies
- Criminal Justice
- Business Administration
- Physical Education
- Business, Management, Marketing and Related Support Services
The school has an open enrollment policy, admitting any students that meet the basic requirements for admission. Submission of transcripts, test scores, and personal statements may be required for certain programs.
Undergraduate tuition is approximately $15,000 per year, though it may vary based on different types of circumstances. Students may visit the school's tuition calculator to determine cost. Financial aid may be provided to students that meet the necessary requirements by way of grants or student loans.
