About
Seward County Community College and Area Technical School, located in Liberal, Kansas, was founded in 1967, though classes did not officially begin until 1969. The school began with an initial enrollment of 331 students, and has grown to over 2650 students annually. The school offers post-secondary education opportunities for residents within its service area. The school is constantly reviewing its facilities, programs and services to ensure they meet and exceed the needs of current and future students.
Academics
Seward County Community College and Area Technical School maintains a variety of programs that allow students to pursue academic transfer or career training opportunities. Academic transfer programs assist students in pursuing a bachelor's degree by first completing a curriculum that mirrors the freshman and sophomore years of a four year education, followed by transfer to a college or university to complete the final two years. Career training programs provide education and skill development in high demand fields for industries with the intention of preparing students for a long term career in that field. Programs take between one and two years to complete and result in a degree or certificate upon completion.

Admissions and Financial Aid
SCCC and ATS is a public, two year, open enrollment institution that allows any person that is eighteen or older or has a high school diploma to enroll once they have submitted an application for admission and paid all fees. New students are also asked to provide transcripts and test scores, and may be required to take a placement exam prior to registration. The school also encourages participation in new student orientation and meeting with a counselor prior to their first semester. Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants and scholarships and is awarded based on need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
