It was founded in 1892 as the Strayer's Business College of Baltimore City in Maryland. While its owner, Strayer Education, Inc. is based in the state of Virginia, the facility in the downtown Washington, DC area stands as the university's flagship campus.
Classes in Strayer are usually scheduled in the evenings and over the weekends as these are the most convenient times for its students, most of whom are employed on a full-time basis, to do the set coursework.
