About
Alamance Community College, located in Graham, North Carolina, was founded in 1958 as a technical school designed to meet the needs of Alamance County and the state as a whole. Since its founding the school has expanded greatly from its origin as an industrial education center to full community college. During its several decades operation the campus has seen growth and development, with the additional of new facilities and the incorporation of buildings from other schools used to meet students demands and expand program offerings. As a result, the school has remained modern in its facilities and dedicated to providing the community with the best possible education. Alamance Community College is one of the many community colleges that currently comprise the North Carolina Community College System.

Academics
Alamance Community College provides a number of academic and career training programs designed to meet the needs of the community. Academic transfer programs assist students in the completion of a bachelor's degree by providing lower division and general education courses for a given major over the course of two years, followed by transfer to a four year institution to complete the final two years and earn the degree. North Carolina's public institutions have agreements in place with the North Carolina Community College System, making transfer easier for those who follow curriculum guidelines. Those choosing to apply to private or out of state schools are recommended to meet with an academic advisor in order to plan a curriculum that best suits the transfer requirements of the school or school's desired.

Career programs offer training and skill development in a given technical or vocational field. Such training and skills are necessary to become perform as a professional within the workplace. Students will learn the abilities required through practical and classroom courses designed to offer real world experience and a better overall understanding of the field. Such programs take between one and two years to complete and  result in either an associate degree or certificate that allows for the pursuit of employment at the entry level immediately after graduation. Many of the programs offered reflect the job needs of the community, thus facilitating employment locally.

Admissions and Financial Aid
Alamance Community College is a public two year open enrollment institution, and as such any student who meets the minimum requirements for admission may enroll by completing and submitting the application for admission. Students will be required to provide transcripts and test scores, and may be asked to take a placement exam to ensure they meet minimum general education requirements prior to registration. Students are encouraged to participate in orientation and meet with a counselor prior to the start of their first semester.

Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants and scholarships. Students in need of financial assistance must complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is a standard document utilized by schools to refer to the student's financial situation and make judgments regarding need, program eligibility and awards. Students may be asked to provide additional documentation by the school to ensure the FAFSA is accurate. Financial aid must be reapplied for prior to the start of each academic year, this is due to the changing financial situation of the student and his or her family each tax year.
