Augusta Technical College, located in Augusta, Georgia, was founded in 1961 when it was known as Augusta Area Technical Vocational School. The school merged with Richmond Technical school five years later, then expanded its offerings over the next two decades, becoming Augusta Technical Institute in 1987. By 2000 the school had grown again, requiring a name change to better reflect its role in the community  and its offerings, taking its current name.
