About
Bevill State Community College, located in Jasper, Alabama, was founded in 1992 through the merger of two former institutions, Walker State Technical College and Brewer State Junior College. The two institutions were formed through Alabama's passing of legislation in 1962 and 1963 regarding the formation and management of technical, community and junior colleges throughout the state. Two more campuses merged with Bevill State Community College in 1993 and 1998, creating a four campus two year institution dedicated to community growth and development through multiple program offerings that reflect the needs of the community and a up to date facilities that provide an environment conducive to success.

Academics
Bevill State Community College offers a number of academic and career programs that allow for a variety of paths for students. Academic programs facilitate the transfer to a four year institution through the completion of the freshman and sophomore years of education at a low financial cost, after which the student will be eligible to finish their bachelor degree at an accredited college or university. Students choosing to transfer will most likely follow the STARS, (Statewide Transfer and Articulation Reporting System) which provides an outline for courses and requirements for transfer to state institutions.

Career and technical programs provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform professionally in a given field. Such programs will result in a certificate or associate degree, with certificate programs taking less time to complete due to a lack of general education courses in the curriculum. Graduates of such programs will be eligible for entry into the workforce immediately after graduation.

Admissions and Financial Aid
Students interested in enrollment at Bevill State Community College should complete and submit the application for admission either online or in person. Once completed an appointment should be made for a placement exam which will determine which general education courses a student will begin with. Students should also submit all pertinent documents, including transcripts. As open admissions school, students who meet the minimum requirements for admission will accepted. Some programs may have additional requirements for admission.

Financial aid is available in the form of grants, work study programs and scholarships. Financial aid is disbursed based on need, with lower income students receiving more aid. Students in need of financial aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to determine need, eligibility and awards. Students may also be eligible for external scholarships which provide financial assistance for a variety of reasons, such as ethnicity, merit, or writing skill. Such scholarships require a separate application to be submitted.
