About
Brevard Community College, located in Cocoa, Florida, is a two year public institution founded in 1960. Initially known as Brevard Junior College, in 1963 the school merged with Carver Junior College, a nearby public two year college that provided education to African-American residents, expanding its service area and resulting in a name change its current. The school moved to its present location shortly after the merger and has been providing county residents with quality education through its four campuses ever since.
Academics
Brevard Community College offers vocational, technical, and academic transfer programs. The school's large number of programs offers students the opportunity to choose the one that best suits their career or academic goals. Career training and vocational programs provide students skill training and education related to a particular field, allowing them to enter the workforce as professionals upon graduation. Such programs take between one and two years to complete and result in a certificate or associate degree.
Students who wish to transfer to a four year institution will enter an associate program either for general education or with a specific major in mind, completing the freshman and sophomore years of a four year education at low cost prior to applying for transfer to a college or university. As colleges and universities will have different transfer requirements, it is recommended that students meet with an academic advisor to develop a curriculum that maximizes the chances for admission at one's desired school or schools.

Admissions and Financial Aid
Students wishing to enroll at BCC must demonstrate Florida residency, complete and submit the application along with any necessary documentation, transcripts, and fees. Once completed students will register for orientation and placement tests, after which the student will register for classes. As an open enrollment institution, any students who meet the minimum requirements for enrollment will be admitted upon processing of the admissions application.
Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants, and scholarships. Students in need of financial assistance must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the resulting student aid report (SAR) from which will be used to determine financial need, program eligibility and monetary awards. Students may be required to provide additional tax and financial information prior to the disbursement of funds to ensure the SAR is true and accurate. Financial aid must be applied for prior to the start of each semester.
Athletics
The BCC Titans participate in the Florida Community College Activities Association and the NJCAA. The men's golf team has won seven national junior college championships since 1969 and the men's baseball program has one two state championships.The school supports intercollegiate athletics as it promotes growth, discipline, good health and teamwork. Individuals participating in an athletic program will work with others toward a single goal, and experiencing success and failure together. Athletic programs start at various point throughout the school year and interested students should contact the athletic department for tryout dates and times.
