Academics

Brookdale Community College offers over sixty programs of study that offer academic transfer or career development opportunities and assist students by allowing them to choose the program that best fulfills their academic or professional goals. Academic transfer is realized through the completion of the freshman and sophomore years of a four year education. Once completed the student will apply to a college or university and continue their education by completing the final two years and earning their bachelor's degree. Although transfer to a public institution in New Jersey will be easier through transfer agreements, students may apply to private and  out of state institutions though their requirements for admission will vary.

Career programs provide in depth training and education in a specific field. These programs assist the student to develop the skills and abilities necessary to enter the workforce as a qualified professional and perform their duties and responsibilities properly. These programs will combine traditional classroom education with practical courses, allowing students to utilize and perfect methods and techniques used within their field through controlled environments that simulate work settings. These programs take between one and two years to complete, resulting in a certificate or associate degree demonstrating competency and allowing for the pursuit of entry level employment.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Brookdale Community College is an open enrollment institution, that allows any individual eighteen years of age or older, or having a high school diploma or equivalent, to enroll through the submission of a completed application and payment of all fees. Students need to supply transcripts and standardized test scores if available, which may be used in lieu of a placement exam. Students are also encouraged to participate in new student orientation to familiarize themselves with campus life, as well as meet with a counselor to discuss goals, curriculum and program enrollment.

Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants and scholarships. Students in need of financial assistance must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the information from which will be used by the school to determine the student's aid needs and program eligibility prior to forming a aid packet. Aid must be applied for prior to each academic year and  may be chosen at random to supply additional information to be compared to their FAFSA in order to verify its accuracy.
