Central Maine Community College (CMCC)

70 Middle Street, Lewiston, ME

Central Maine Community College, located in Auburn, Maine, was established in 1963 through a referendum establishing a vocational training program in Androscoggin County. Androscoggin State Vocational Institute opened its doors in 1964, taking over the site of a former automobile dealership and operating there until 1966 where it was given its present campus.

The school was renamed Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute and that remained unchanged until 1989, where the school shortened and changed its name to Central Maine Technical College to better reflect its role and purpose in the community. By 2003 the technical college portion was replaced by community college to better reflect the school's program offerings and comprehensive services.
