Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC)

Chattahoochee Valley Community College, located in Phenix City, Alabama, was established in 1973 trough an act passed by the Alabama Legislature. The school's service area includes Phenix City, Russell County, as well as parts of Lee, Macon, Barbour, and Bullock counties. The school also provided educational opportunities of Georgia residents located at Fort Benning – Columbus. The school took up permanent residence in 1976, a 101 acre lot housing nine permanent buildings dedicated to various studies, programs and administration.
Academics
As a comprehensive community college, CVCC offers a number of programs aimed at assisting in career training or academic transfer as part of its mission o assist residents in its community. Career programs prepare individuals for entry into the workforce by providing the training and education necessary to become a qualified professional over a one to two year period of study.
Upon Completion students will earn a degree or certificate that demonstrates competency. Academic transfer programs fulfill the first two years of a four year education, with credits being transfer to a four year institution that the student applies to prior to completion of the program in order to continue their education and earn a bachelor's degree.

Students must complete an application, pay all fees, and supply transcripts and test scores of available. Students may be asked to take a placement exam prior to registration, and it is recommended they meet with a counselor to discuss curriculum before choosing one's classes.
Financial aid is available in the form of loans and grants, and is awarded based on need as identified through the information provided in the student's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All aid must be reapplied for prior to each academic year.
