By 1976 the school had once again outgrown its facilities, moving to a new uptown location and being renamed Northeast Community College. At the suggestion of Mayor John Daly's assistant, Frank Sullivan, the school was instead named after Harry S. Truman who had been a lifelong proponent of education. The school currently serves nearly 23,000 students a year, both internationally and locally, and is dedicated to providing all students an equal education.
