About
The College of Central Florida, located in Ocala, Florida, was established in 1957 as Central Florida Junior College. A public two year institution, the school was founded to serve the counties of Citrus, Levy and Marion. In 1966 the school merged with Hampton Junior College, a two year institution serving black residents, and in 1971 changed its name to Central Florida Community College. As with many two year institutions in the Florida College System, the school began to offer a limited number of bachelor degree programs in 2010, resulting in yet another name change, this time to its current. The school serves nearly 19,000 students a year and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. As a public institution, the school is dedicated to providing a quality education at low cost, ensuring that residents in its service area have their educational, cultural and professional needs met.

Academics
The College of Central Florida offers a large number of programs resulting in certificates, associate degrees or bachelor degrees. The variety of programs ensures that students will be able to choose one which suits their academic or professional needs. Academic programs allow students to fulfill the first two years of a four year education at a lower cost. Once the program is completed, students may apply to a four year institution to complete their bachelor's degree in their area of study. As the school is part of the Florida College System, transfer to a member school is easier than to private or out of state institutions.

Career training programs provide students an education in given vocation or technical field, providing the skills and knowledge necessary to operate as professionals in their field. Students will be exposed to a mixture of practical courses and classroom education, allowing for the application of skills in a real world setting with education provided by experienced professionals. Upon graduation students will receive a certificate or diploma demonstrating their qualifications and allowing for immediate entry into the workforce at the entry level.

In addition, the College of Central Florida offers bachelor degree programs in Business and Organizational Management and Early Childhood Education. These programs require a separate application for admission and are limited in their enrollment.
