About
The College of Central Florida, located in Ocala, Florida, was established in 1957 as Central Florida Junior College. A public two year institution, the school was founded to serve the counties of Citrus, Levy and Marion. In 1966 the school merged with Hampton Junior College, a two year institution serving black residents, and in 1971 changed its name to Central Florida Community College. As with many two year institutions in the Florida College System, the school began to offer a limited number of bachelor degree programs in 2010, resulting in yet another name change, this time to its current. The school serves nearly 19,000 students a year and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. As a public institution, the school is dedicated to providing a quality education at low cost, ensuring that residents in its service area have their educational, cultural and professional needs met.
