Electrician Training

The electrician program at College of the Albemarle prepares students for careers as electrical contractors, inspectors, estimators, project managers, electricians, linemen, and wiremen. The program focuses on applying technical knowledge and skills to install, operate, maintain and repair electrical apparatus and systems. College of the Albemarle

Known as the first comprehensive community college in North Carolina, College of the Albemarle celebrated its fifty years of academic service to the Northeast region of this state in 2011. Until today, it continues to serve and extend its programs to the seven counties of the Albemarle Area. COA is one 58 community colleges under the Carolina Community College System.

COA Campus in Elizabeth City lies in a 75-acre land located on Highway U.S. 17 North consists of six major buildings occupied by offices, classrooms, laboratories, auditorium and academic centers including the Learning Resources Center, Technology Center and the Health Sciences Center.

In an aim to become the premier university in the region and positively transform the community, COA provides opportunities for academic growth and workforce development. With its comprehensive educational programs, this college guides the students in their journey to achieving their academic and career aspirations. 

Students at COA are given opportunities to earn a degree or certificate in different areas of study such as Arts & Sciences Transfer; Business Technologies; Construction, Engineering & Industrial Trades; Health Sciences; Natural Resources and Artistic Production; and Public Service Technologies. Among the Health Sciences programs accredited in this college are Medical Assisting and Surgical Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Associate degree in Nursing.

Adults and high school undergraduates can enroll in Basic and Traditional Studies offering GED program and Adult High School (AHS) program conducted in conventional classroom setting or online. And to accommodate the special needs of the students, COA also provides English as a Second Language (ESL) and Compensatory Education courses.
