Academics
Students at Cosumnes River College are able to choose between academic transfer and career training programs in order to pursue their personal and professional goals. Academic transfer programs allow for the completion of a curriculum that mirrors the first two years of a four year education locally and at low cost, followed by applying for transfer to four year institutions in order to complete the final two years and earn a bachelor's degree. Transfer to University to California (UC) and California State University (Cal State) institutions is made easier through agreements in place that allow for transfer guarantees based on the fulfillment of prerequisites. Transfer to private or out of state institutions will have separate requirements and it is suggested students meet with a counselor to discuss options.
Career training programs provides students the option to obtain an education in a high demand field or industry, allowing the student to enter the workforce as a qualified professional upon completion. Students will participate in traditional and practical courses depending on the program chosen, with practical courses simulating real world environments and allowing for in-depth skill development and training. Programs take between one and two years to complete, resulting in a certificate or associate degree upon completion. The school works closely with local business to identify gaps in workforce, adding or adjusting programs to meet local needs.
