Kingsborough Community College, located in Brooklyn, New York, was founded in 1963 and began operations in 1964. The school began with a class of to a class of 468 students. Today the school has an enrollment of over 18,000.

The school has grown and added facilities since it was first founded, such as the Academic Village and the Marine and Academic Center Building. The school believes that education is necessary for a better life, a belief shared by staff and faculty willing to assist students in any way possible.

Kingsborough Community College is a part of the City University of New York (CUNY), which is comprised of 23 colleges and universities throughout New York City. It is the largest urban university and the third largest university system in the United States.

Academics

Kingsborough Community College offers certificate and degree programs to students. Degree programs are there provide vocational and career training or academic progress used for transfer to a four year institution. Career and vocational programs will prepare students for work immediately after graduation, having prepared the student for entry level work in their area of study.

Students wishing to enroll at Kingsborough must provide with their application their original high school diploma or original GED diploma with test score, the application fee, proof of MMR immunization, and proof of immigration status if not a citizen. The school reserves the right to refuse admission to students it feels possess a risk to the safety or security of the college or community.

Financial aid is available in the form of grants, loans, scholarships and work study programs. Aid is awarded based on need and eligibility as determined through the completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The student aid report (SAR) that is provided after a FAFSA submission will be reviewed and awards disbursed accordingly.

Athletics

Kingsborough Community College athletics programs participate in the National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) in the CUNY conference. Both men's and women's athletic programs are offered.
