Medgar Evers College – CUNY (Medgar)

In 1969, Medgar Evers College was established as the senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY). It was named after Medgar Wiley Evers, a civil rights activist known as the man of the Mississippi. His legacy is reflected in the multicultural and diverse population of this college interacting harmoniously in a community that values equality and respect for every individual.
Located at 1650 Bedford Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11225, MEC is committed to meeting the educational and social needs of the Central Brooklyn community as it empowers the students to achieve life-long success and positively contribute to the community.
MEC boasts for its world class resources and highly qualified professors that allow it constantly respond to the changing global and economic needs. It is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education while its academic programs are registered by the New York State Department of Education.
This college offers Certificates, Bachelor's and Associate degree programs in nearly 100 major areas of study under the School of Business, Liberal Arts & Education, and Science, Health & Technology. Evening and weekend classes are available for selected courses in liberal arts, education, social sciences, math, sciences, and business. MEC not only focuses on providing a degree, it also supports students in finding jobs upon completion of a course through a networking framework.
Through the School of Professional and Community Development (SPCD), MEC also provides opportunities for the community residents to enhance their skills and prepare for higher education. This program has four divisions: Academy for Youth, Academy for Career Pathways, Adult and Continuing Education and Research and Advocacy Centers.
