Danville Area Community College

Danville Area Community College, located in Danville, Illinois, was founded in 1946 as an extension of the University of Illinois. The school was opened to provide education opportunities for returning World War II veterans, and originally operated out of the local high school. Since its founding the school has grown in size and purpose, being given a permanent home in 1965 and becoming an independent institution in 1966. Today the school offers a wide variety of programs and services for residents of its service area.
Academics
Danville Area Community College is a comprehensive two year institution, and as such offers programs that allow for academic transfer and workforce development. Academic transfer programs complete the first two years of a four year education, followed by allowing the student to transfer to a college or university to complete the final two years. Workforce development is achieved through career training programs that take between one and two years to complete in a high demand field or industry, and result in a degree or certificate upon completion.
