Business Administration Degree

Daytona State College

Daytona State College, located in Daytona Beach, Florida, was founded in 1957 as Daytona Beach Junior College. The school merged with Volusia County Community College in 1965, and changed its name in 1971 to Daytona Beach Community College. Over the years the school expanded to offer more programs and unified the two campuses.
By 2006 the school began offering bachelor degrees, and in 2008 changed its name yet again, this time to Daytona State College to better reflect the changes and offerings the school provides.
Daytona State College is part of the Florida College System which is comprised of a large number of two and four year public institutions. The school has been an active participant in local development, offering support in economic and cultural development.
Academics
Daytona State College provides certificates, associate degrees and bachelor's degrees to aspiring students. Certificate and associate programs provide career and technical training, giving students the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed. Graduates of such programs will be prepared to enter the workforce immediately.
Associate level academic programs will fulfill the first two years of a four year education, allowing transfer into a four year program upon completion, particularly with colleges and universities in the Florida College System. Bachelor degree programs offered at the schools cover very specific areas of study, with new programs receiving accreditation and implementation as needed.

Admissions and Financial Aid
Daytona State College has an open admissions policy allowing any adult individual to enroll by completing the application for admission. Students must also submit all pertinent transcripts and test scores. Students must also take an evaluation exam in order to be placed, unless ACT or SAT scores are provided. Individuals interested in enrolling in one of the bachelor degree programs must complete a separate application that will be reviewed by the admissions office and considered for acceptance based on program criteria.
Financial aid is available in the form of grants and loans. Students in need of aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after which eligibility and awards will be determined. Some students may eligible for scholarships which generally require a separate application and have their own criterion for awarding funds.
Athletics
The Daytona State College Falcons participate in a number of intercollegiate athletics through the National Junior College Athletic Association's (NJCAA) Suncoast Conference. Athletic programs provide students with a healthy competitive atmosphere, allowing for the development of skills that may prove useful in a student's future. These skills include discipline, healthy living habits, and teamwork.
