Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, located in Elizabethtown Kentucky, is one of sixteen two year institutions that comprise the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS), a system formed when technical and community colleges became overseen by a single entity when the Postsecondary Education Improvement Act of 1997. The school was formed by the merger in 2004 of Elizabethtown Community College, established in 1964, and Elizabethtown Technical College, established in 1965. ECTC is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The school serves multiple counties in Kentucky, providing a source of education and community service for those regions.

Academics

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College offers programs in a variety of fields, resulting in diplomas, certificates or degrees upon completion. Some programs are designed to assist in transfer to a four year institution, particularly to public institutions in Kentucky with whom the school has transfer agreements in place. Other programs prepare individuals for a career, providing the technical and practical education and skills necessary to seek entry level work in a particular field. Associate programs that provide career training also offer general education courses that may be applied for transfer credit in the future. There is no deadline or fee to apply, though students who apply early will be better served by the school.
