Flint Hills Technical College, located in Emporia, Kansas, was founded in 1963, was given associate degree granting status in 1995, the Kansas Board of Regents became the coordinating body for the school at the state level in 1999, and the school became autonomous from the Emporia School District in 2005. The goal of the school is to provide educational opportunities to the residents of its service area for personal, professional and academic growth.

FHTC offers 19 programs of study along with several short term training programs and continuing education courses. The student to teacher ratio is approximately 15 to 1, and a large portion of the program curriculums are based in lab work for practical experience.
