Originally the north campus of the Community College of Denver, in 1968 the campus was renamed and established as a separate entity by the state board. Over the years the school has expanded its campus, classes and services. FRCC became one of the first schools in Colorado to offer online education. Academic transfer programs complete the freshman and sophomore years of a bachelor's degree at a significantly lower financial cost. Once completed students may apply to a four year institution of their choice to finish their degree. Students should meet with an academic advisor to plan their curriculum to better prepare them for the school or schools they plan to apply to.

Such programs provide the skills and knowledge necessary to operate as a professional, utilizing a mixture of classroom education and practical courses to provide experience in a working environment prior to graduation. Career programs often reflect the needs of the community, particularly in high demand fields.

- Anthropology
- Sociology
