Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, New York, is a public two year institution and member of the State University of New York System. The school maintains an enrollment of 13,000 students annually. The school is among the was originally known as the Veteran's Vocational School and was founded in 1953, and was established to provide training for returning World War II veterans. Academics

Admissions and Financial Aid
Hudson Valley Community College is an open enrollment institution that allows any student who is eighteen years of age or older or a high school graduate, to enroll by completing the application for admission and paying all fees. Submission of test scores and previous transcripts is recommended, as is meeting with a counselor and participating in new student orientation. Students may be required to take a placement exam prior to registration.


Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants and scholarships and is awarded based on need. Students will complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the information from which will be used by the school to determine the extent of a student's need and their aid program eligibility while constructing the financial aid packet. Financial aid must be reapplied for prior to each academic year and should be submitted in a timely fashion.
