Indian River State College, located in Fort Pierce, Florida, is one of Florida's many public institutions. The school was established in 1959 as Indian River Junior College, and renamed Indian River Community College in 1970 to better reflect the school's offerings. The school once again changed its name, this time to its current, once it began offering bachelor degrees as part of its curriculum. The school serves several areas through branch campuses and online courses. ISRC works to strengthen the communities it serves, offering a diverse curriculum to fill the needs of the community, and evolving along with those needs.
Academics
IRSC offers a number of different programs that result in either a bachelor or associate degree or certificate. Originally, the school provided a two year education as a community college, but with the introduction of nine bachelor degree programs, with the planned addition of more programs in the future, the school has expanded its educational role within Florida's public post-secondary institutions. Students may earn certificates or associate degrees that provide career training, allowing for employment immediately after graduation. Two year transfer programs may be taken, allowing for transfer into a four year program with the first two years already completed.
