Johnson County Community College (JCCC) is a two-year college located in Overland, Kansas. JCCC offers transfer studies for students planning to transfer to four-year institutions to complete a bachelor's degree. In addition, JCCC offers more than 50 associate degree and professional certificate programs in high employment fields.

JCCC is the state's third-largest institution of higher education, the largest of its 19 community colleges.

Johnson County Community College offers courses in academic clusters that link what students learn in school with the knowledge and skills they need for success in college and professions.

JCCC also offers continuing education courses that are intended for students wishing to update their skills or learn new skills for a changing business environment. Personal enrichment courses are also available to meet a wide range of interests.

Online courses and distance learning programs are available through various delivery methods including tele-courses and hybrid courses that include a combination of onsite and online classes.

History

Johnson County Community College was the first new college recommended for creation under the Kansas Community Junior College Act of 1965. The district was established in June 1967.

In 1969, while county residents voted approval of $12.9 million in general obligation bonds to purchase more than 200 acres in Overland Park for a college campus, the first JCCC classes were conducted in leased facilities in Merriam, Kansas.

In 1972, classes and all operations were moved to the permanent campus on College Boulevard in Overland Park. By this time, the student body had increased from an initial 1,360 to more than 3,600.

Over the years, JCCC has continued to grow, significantly expanding its student enrollment, instructional program, faculty and staff, and facilities.
