Johnston Community College was established in 1969 in Smithfield, North Carolina. The school offers vocational, technical and continuing education programs to over 17,000 students a year. Academics
Johnston Community College offers certificate, diploma and degree programs at the associate level. Students may enter one of many career training programs that provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to immediately enter the workforce after graduation, or they may  complete an associate program for transfer, fulfilling the freshman and sophomore years of a four year education, and enter into a  four year institution as a junior working toward the completion of a bachelor's degree. Admissions and Financial Aid
Johnston Community College operates under an open door policy that requires potential applicants only be high school graduates and guarantees entry into general education studies. Students should complete the admissions application and provide all relevant documents prior to registration. Financial aid is available to eligible JCC students on a need based format. The amount given is determined by the total educational costs minus familial contribution. The JCC Jaguars participate in a small number of intercollegiate athletic programs. The Jaguars compete in the NJCAA Division II, Region X.
