Welding Program

The welding program at Johnston Community College prepares students for careers as welding engineers, manufacturing engineers, application engineers, sales engineers, and project engineer or manager. The program focuses on applying technical knowledge and skills to join or cut metal surfaces. About
Johnston Community College was established in 1969 in Smithfield, North Carolina. The school offers vocational, technical and continuing education programs to over 17,000 students a year. JCC operates multiple campuses throughout Johnston County in the form of learning centers, a workforce development center, and a 2,800 acre wildlife preserve. JCC is dedicated to serving the needs of the community, offering quality education and opportunity for North Carolina's fastest growing county.

Academics
Johnston Community College offers certificate, diploma and degree programs at the associate level. Students may enter one of many career training programs that provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to immediately enter the workforce after graduation, or they may  complete an associate program for transfer, fulfilling the freshman and sophomore years of a four year education, and enter into a  four year institution as a junior working toward the completion of a bachelor's degree. JCC also provides evening courses to assist those who require more flexible scheduling.

Adults returning to school have a variety of options in regard to the classes they may take, including non-credit academic courses for personal betterment.

Admissions and Financial Aid
Johnston Community College operates under an open door policy that requires potential applicants only be high school graduates and guarantees entry into general education studies. Students should complete the admissions application and provide all relevant documents prior to registration. Specific programs may have additional requirements that must be met and entry into a such programs is not guaranteed.

Financial aid is available to eligible JCC students on a need based format. The amount given is determined by the total educational costs minus familial contribution. The financial aid office will assist in determining what an individual's family can contribute and what type of aid will be issued. Aid is available in the form of grants and loans.

Athletics
The JCC Jaguars participate in a small number of intercollegiate athletic programs. The Jaguars compete in the NJCAA Division II, Region X. Athletic programs provide students with a healthy competitive atmosphere and allow students and faculty to partake in the cheering on of one's school. Additionally, athletic programs assist in the development of skills that may have proven useful in a student's academic and professional career.
