Kansas City Kansas Community College, located in Kansas City, Kansas, was founded in 1923 and was originally part of the Kansas City Public School System. By 1965 the school had become known as Kansas City Kansas Junior College in order to meet the standards for two year institutions as put forth by the state legislature. The school changed its name again in 1979 when the term junior was dropped in favor of community among all such institutions throughout the state.
