About
Labette Community College, located in Parsons, Kansas, was founded in 1923 and was originally known as Parsons Junior College. The school was originally part of the local public school system, but eventually came under state jurisdiction, defining its role as a community college and the services it provides. The school was renamed Labette Community Junior College in 1967, and then again in 1980 to the current name as the definitions for junior colleges and community colleges were established.

Academics
The schools original purpose of providing transition to a four year institutions continues alongside programs aimed at providing career training. Academic transfer is accomplished by completing a curriculum that mirrors the first two years of a four year education, followed by transfer to a four year institution in order to complete the final two and earn a bachelor's degree. Career training programs provide students with an education in a high demand area or industry, providing the skills and abilities necessary to successfully enter the workforce and establish a long term career. Programs take between one and two years to complete and confer an associate degree or certificate upon completion.
