Initially named as Martin Technical Institute, Martin Community College is a public comprehensive community college that serves the residents of Martin County, as well as some portions of Bertie and Washington Counties.
Dedicated to building better futures, MCC provides quality and affordable higher education and training. This college assists students in obtaining the necessary skills for a career, enhancing their competence and gaining initial credits for a four-year degree with the curriculum and continuing education programs. All these are offered in response to the diverse and changing needs of the community.
Selected programs are offered at the convenience of the students who have part-time or full-time work through distance learning. Moreover, under the Continuing Education program are firefighting, law enforcement, basic skills, and emergency medical services training.
As an institution that has demonstrated strong leadership, constant improvement in programs and services and institutional development, MCC is selected as one of the eight community colleges recognized as "Leader College" by Achieving the Dream: Community Colleges Count in 2010. Similarly, this college also ranked among the top community colleges of the nation published in the Washington Monthly magazine.
MCC also fosters an environment for social interaction and networking to enrich the students’ academic experience.
