5001 N. Oak Trafficway, Kansas City, MO
Mineral Area College, located in Park Hills, Missouri, is a public two year institution established in 1922. Originally known as Flat River Junior College, the school chose to change its name in 1965 to better reflect the changes in offerings and programs the school had begun to offer as well as its expanded role in the community and increase service area.
MAC serves nearly four thousand students annually, and the school is dedicated to ensuring that they receive a high quality education through modern programs and facilities, doing so through the review of offerings and services to ensure they meet the needs and expectations of students.
Academics
Mineral Area College provides students with a comprehensive education that allows for transfer to a four year institution or training in a given field in order start their career. Academic transfer programs allow students to complete the first two years of a four year education, followed by applying for transfer to a college or university to continue their studies and complete the bachelor's degree.
Colleges across the country will have varying transfer requirements. As a result, you should seek the aid of a counselor to outline a curriculum that best meets the criterion of your desired academic goals.
Career programs take between one and two years to complete and provide an education and training in a given field, allowing students to enter the workforce as a qualified professional. Programs are a mixture of theoretical and practical courses. Blending the two disciplines allow students to apply learned methods and techniques appropriate to their field to be practiced in a controlled environment and under the supervision of a trained professional.
Upon completion students will receive a certificate or degree that demonstrates the student's competency in the area of study.

Admissions and Financial Aid
Mineral Area College is an open enrollment institution that allows any individual that meets the minimum requirements for admission to enroll by completing the application for admission and paying all tuition fees. Students should also provide transcripts and test scores and may be required to take a placement exam prior to registration. Additionally, participation in new student orientation to familiarize oneself with campus life as well as meeting with an academic advisor to develop a curriculum and assist in program choice is encouraged.
Financial Aid is available in the form of loans, grants, work study programs, and scholarships. Students in need of financial assistance must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which will be used by the school to determine financial need and aid program eligibility when constructing the student's financial aid package. Financial aid must be reapplied for prior to the start of each academic year. Students may also be chosen at random to provide additional financial information to the school in order to cross check it with the FAFSA and ensure its accuracy. This is done as a result of new regulations governing financial aid at the federal level.
