Sign Language Degree

The sign language degree program at Minnesota State Community and Technical College is designed to prepare students to study American Sign Language as a method of communication in the deaf community. Students seeking a sign language degree may pursue a career in teaching sign language, as well as American Sign Language translation, on a private or public scale. Courses include instruction in the development of ASL, ASL morphology and syntax, signing technique, English translation of ASL, formal and colloquial ASL, and ASL transcription. Minnesota State Community and Technical College operates four campuses and serves near 10,000 students in credit courses per semester. MSCTC offers more than 120 career and liberal arts programs along with custom training programs through community partnerships. The fours campus locations are Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Moorhead and Wadena. Additionally, MSCTC offers online courses and programs.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Students interested in attending MSCTC should apply online, submit high school and college transcripts, present immunization forms if they graduated high school before 1997, schedule assessment testing for placement, register for classes at the scheduled time, and pay all tuition fees.
