Monroe Community College, located in Rochester, New York, is a public two year institution founded in 1961 and a member of the State University of New York system of schools. The school was founded by Dr. Samuel J. Stabins who founded the school to fulfill the need for local healthcare workers in hospitals. The school later joined SUNY, and began expanding over the next decades, opening new campuses in Brighton and downtown Rochester, in addition to four extension locations and control of the Monroe County Public Safety Training Facility.
