The sign language degree program at Mountwest Community and Technical College is designed to prepare students to study American Sign Language as a method of communication in the deaf community. Students seeking a sign language degree may pursue a career in teaching sign language, as well as American Sign Language translation, on a private or public scale. Courses include instruction in the development of ASL, ASL morphology and syntax, signing technique, English translation of ASL, formal and colloquial ASL, and ASL transcription.
