Mt. Hood Community College, located in Gresham, Oregon, was founded in 1966 to provide post-secondary and higher education options for residents of its service area and currently serves over 33,000 students annually. The school is funded through local taxes, state funds and tuition. The school currently operates two campuses in Gresham and Maywood, as well as The Bruning Center for Allied Health Education. Mt. Hood Community College offers a large number of programs that allow students to choose the programs that best suits his or her future plans and goals. Academic transfer programs assist students in pursuing an undergraduate degree by completing the first two years of a four year education followed by applying to transfer to a four year institution in order to continue the final two years and earn a bachelor's degree. Transfer is made easier for students seeking admission to a public Oregon College or University, though transfer is possible to private and out of state institutions.

Mt. Hood Community College is an open enrollment institution that allows any individual that wishes to enroll to do so once they have completed and submitted an application for admission and paid all associated fees. Students must also supply test scores and transcripts if available and may be required to take a placement exam prior to registration. Participation in new student orientation and an appointment with a counselor to discuss goals and program enrollment are also encouraged.

Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants and scholarships. Students in need of financial assistance must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) the information from which is used by the school's financial aid office in order to determine the extent of one's financial needs and aid program eligibility when constructing his or her financial aid packet.
