Proud to be unofficially known as “The College of Essex & Franklin”, it was founded in 1967 with an aim to serve students in the area and in other regions to pursue their personal, professional and educational goals.

If you are interested in taking up Wilderness Recreation Leadership and Environmental Science degree programs, this is the perfect place to be. The College covers a 3,514 square miles service area with beautiful mountains and breathtaking lake.

Did you know that the 1932 and 1980 Olympics take place in Lake Placid? Students enrolled in Sports and Events Management are privileged to practice their learning in local venues.  And if you are into arts and will take up Studio Art, it’s a delight to be a part of its active arts community.

NCCC has received numerous awards over the years. It is the official college of the Olympics during the 1980 Winter Olympics. It ranked 22nd on the 2010 Washington Monthly’s published list of America’s 50 best community colleges and ranked 1st in New York state. NCCC is consistent in its ranking 50% above in every category they were evaluated. Washington Monthly commented NCCC outperform not only its fellow community colleges but also many elite 4-year universities.

Enrolling in its degree programs has residency requirements and corresponding tuition fees. An Essex/Franklin or New York state resident student tuition cost is $4,850 per year and a Non-resident student tuition cost is $10,700 per year.

As a student, you’ll receive a progressive and individualized education in the heart of the Adirondack Park in northern New York. NCCC has 3 campuses: Saranac Lake (Main) Campus, Malone Campus and Ticonderoga Campus. This is indeed a place and college like no other to live, learn and grow in a unique educational setting.
