North Hennepin Community College

Also known as MSU Moorhead MSUM

1104 Seventh Avenue South, Moorhead, MN

North Hennepin Community College (NHCC), one of the largest community colleges in Minnesota, is an accredited college located in Brooklyn Park, MN. They offer students a chance to earn a two-year degree and/or career training via short-term certificates, as well as transfers to four-year colleges or universities.

NHCC’s mission is to foster an environment conducive to helping students achieve their academic and professional goals so they can make a difference in the world.

The more-than ten thousand students attending NHCC come from five major cities -Brooklyn Park, Maple Grove, Minneapolis, Brooklyn Center, and Plymouth. Some of the top feeding high schools are Maple Grove Senior High School, Osseo High School, Park Center Senior High School, and Champlin Park High School.

NHCC has an open admissions policy that offers studies in fine arts, liberal arts, health and medicine, and technology and business through 70 academic programs. Programs, such as those in the medical field, may have additional requirements for admissions.

NHCC offers students support services such as counseling services, legal service clinics, and career services. The career resource center (CRC) is available for students to use to explore career options through self-assessment testing, assistance with job searching, and access to job listings and job fairs. Employers also have access to the CRC, which allows them to list current job opportunities and participate in campus recruiting events.

Counseling services are free and confidential and are in place to help assist students with personal, academic, and career goals.

NHCC also offers students a chance to hone their skills through athletics, music and theater, or even a school literary magazine. While NHCC doesn’t have a child care facility on campus, students have access to information regarding in-home child care, as well as child care assistance. Students who are eligible can also pursue financial assistance for child care, through the Post Secondary Child Care Grant program, which helps low income students pay for child care while they’re enrolled in classes.
