In the northwest corner of Champaign, Illinois, you will find Parkland College, a two-year community college with an approximate enrollment of 18,000 students. Its stated mission is “to engage the community in learning,” a watchword that is more than just talk. The school’s Center for Academic Success (CAS) was conceived specifically to foster student success, offering instruction in study skills, math, pre-college level studies, writing, and more.
