Pasco – Hernando Community College

Pasco-Hernando Community College, located in New Port Richey, Florida, was founded in 1967 and is the most recently established public two year institution in the state. The school operates four campuses including locations in Dade City, Brooksville, and Spring Hill.
PHCC has a large service area that includes several counties and enrolls nearly 11,000 credit and noncredit students a year. Pasco Hernando CC is a member of the Florida College System which consists of 28 schools, serves over 800,000 thousand students annually and together with the State University System of Florida makes up the post secondary public education system of the state.

Academics
Pasco-Hernando Community College provides students with the opportunity to pursue their goals and realize their plans by pursuing career training or academic transfer through one of the schools many programs.
Career and technical training programs provide education in a given field, allowing students to develop the skills and abilities necessary to enter the workforce as qualified professionals. Individuals will take a variety of classes that prepare students in both the theoretical and practical applications of learned methods and techniques, implementing them in controlled environment which allows the student to perfect the necessary skills necessary for employment in their chosen field. Programs take between one and two years to complete and result in a certificate or degree.
Students wishing to pursue academic transfer will complete their freshman and sophomore years at PHCC at low cost, followed by transfer to a four year college or university to continue their education in pursuit of a bachelor's degree.
Transfer to one of the eleven public colleges or universities in the State University System of Florida is guaranteed if the student successfully graduates having earned his or her associate degree in the process. Students wishing to transfer to out of state or private schools may want to meet with a counselor in order to develop a curriculum that best meets the admissions requirements of the desired school or schools.

The school also provides adult education and continuing education programs. Adult education programs allow individuals who have not earned their high school diploma to follow a course of study that prepares them for the acquisition through examination of the General Education Diploma (GED) which can be substituted for ones high school diploma. Continuing education courses are for professionals in a given field who wish to refresh their education and skills or a required by the state's law to take a number of course hours to renew a license or certification.
Admissions and Financial Aid
Pasco-Hernando Community College is a public, two year open enrollment institution that allows any individual that meets the minimum requirements for admission, supplies a completed application and pays all associated fees to freely enroll and register for classes. Future students must supply transcripts and standardized test scores, and may be asked to take a placement exam prior to registration if one or both are unavailable. New students are encouraged to Participate in orientation as well as to meet with a counselor to discuss program enrollment and curriculum.
Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants and scholarships. Students in need of financial assistance must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which may be accomplished online or through the mail.

Aid must be reapplied for prior to the start of each academic year and some students may be chosen at random to provide additional information to verify the accuracy of their FAFSA.
