Passaic County Community College, located in Paterson, New Jersey, was founded in 1971 through the original Paterson campus. Since its founding the school has seen the addition of facilities and an expansion of existing campuses along with the addition of new campuses, expanding the role of the school, its service area, and reaffirming its mission to provide high quality education to residents of the community. Academics
Passaic County Community College offers a large number of courses that result in degree or certificate. Such programs take between one and two years to complete and allow students to choose a program that best reflects their goals. Career and technical programs allow students to develop the skills and abilities necessary for employment as qualified professionals. Students will take a combination of theoretical and practical courses, allowing students to apply learned methods and techniques to real world settings. Students will earn a certificate or degree and will be qualified for entry into the work for upon completion.

Academic transfer programs allow students to complete the freshman and sophomore years off a four year education. Once completed the student will apply to a four year college or university to transfer credits and complete their bachelor's degree. Schools will have varying admissions requirements for transfer admission and it is recommended the student meet with a counselor to develop a curriculum that  meets the criterion of the student's desired school or schools.

Admissions and Financial Aid
Passaic County Community College is a public, two year, open enrollment institution, and as such allows any individual that meets the school's minimum requirements to enroll upon submission of an application and payment of tuition. Students should also supply related material, such as transcripts and standardized test scores, and may also be required to take a placement exam prior to registration. Students are encouraged to participate in orientation prior to their first semester to become acquainted with campus life and to meet with an academic adviser to discuss program enrollment and choose an appropriate curriculum.

Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants and scholarships. Students in need of financial assistance are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the information from which will be used by PCCC to determine a student's financial needs and aid program eligibility. Aid must be maintained through a continued stable academic performance and must be reapplied for prior to the start of each academic year.. Due to new federal regulations, aid recipients may be asked at random to provide additional financial information which will be cross checked with the FAFSA to ensure accuracy. Scholarships are also available externally. Each scholarship will have a different criterion for awarding funds, for example academic performance, cultural benefit, or need.

Athletics
The Passaic County Community College participates in intercollegiate athletics through the Nation Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIX. Intercollegiate Athletics provide students with a forum for healthy competition and allows for the development of valuable skills, such as teamwork, leadership and discipline, that may be applied to one's personal, professional and academic life. Students participating in intercollegiate sports must maintain a healthy GPA or risk being removed from the program or team. Interested students may obtain the necessary forms and tryout dates from the school's athletics department.
