Ultrasound Technician Program

The ultrasound technician program at Polk State College helps students gain knowledge in gathering sonographic data, using medical ultrasound techniques. Polk State College

Polk State College, located in Winter Haven, Florida, was established in 1964 as Polk Junior College. Like many community and junior Colleges in the Florida College System, the school changed its name in 2009 to reflect the fact that it was now a bachelor degree offering institution. The school has over 20,000 students enrolled, with nearly half that number in credit granting programs. The school has three campuses providing educational opportunities to various communities in the state of Florida.

Academics

The school offers several certificate and associate degree programs designed to prepare students for careers immediately after graduation. Such students will be qualified for entry level work in their field of study, having obtained the practical skills and knowledge necessary to perform their tasks. Others will pursue transfer opportunities, fulfilling the first two years of a four year education. The bachelor programs offered include a BAS Supervision and Management and Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Students wishing to enroll at Polk State College must have a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must submit a completed application along with all transcripts and pertinent test scores. Students will take a placement exam once all documentation is submitted. Some programs may have additional requirements that must be fulfilled in order to be accepted.  Financial aid is available in the form of grants, loans and scholarships. Students must determine eligibility by completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Once submitted the resulting information will be use to determine awards.
